The Health Services Committee Presents:
Beyond an Apple a Day: Providing Consumer Health Information at Your Library

This hands-on class will cover the health information seeking behavior of consumers and the role of the librarian in the provision of health information to the public.  Come learn about the evolution of consumer health, health literacy and the e-patient.  Participants will be equipped with knowledge of top consumer health sites, e-patient resources, and collection development core lists.  We will discuss creative ideas for health information outreach.  The class will wrap up with an opportunity to explore effective marketing approaches and develop an elevator speech.

Andrew Ippolito Scholarship Award 2014

Each year, one award of $2000.00 will be presented to an outstanding student.

WHO MAY APPLY?
Any NCLA member currently enrolled in an ALA accredited Library or Information Science program located within the New York Metropolitan area who has completed at least 12 credits toward a Master’s Degree. Previous recipients of NCLA scholarships may not apply again.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

Applicants will complete an application form.

Provide official transcripts of all education.

Applicants must secure two references to be sent to the NCLA Scholarship Committee.

All materials must be received by October 1st of the year of application.

WHEN ARE THE NCLA SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED?

Applicants will be notified regarding their status by November 3.

Formal announcement and presentation of the awards will be at the NCLA Annual Dinner.

Education Grant 2014

Each year a minimum of three awards of up to $500 each will be available to reimburse recipients for tuition and/or costs for library related conferences that will not be reimbursed by a library or any other agency

WHO MAY APPLY?

Any NCLA member in any division of the Association currently employed in a library or library related institution.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

The applicant must complete the Education Grant application form and include documentation about the course and/or library-related conference for which he/she is seeking reimbursement.

All materials must be received by September 8th of the year of application.

WHEN ARE THE NCLA SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED?
Applicants will be notified regarding their status by November 3.
