What is the Emerging Librarians Committee?

Purpose of Emerging Librarians Committee:

The purpose of the Committee is to create networking and professional development opportunities for those entering or transitioning within the library profession. The Committee is geared towards those who are interested in the profession including but not limited to: students enrolled in a LIS program; library trainees; recent graduates from a LIS program; newly employed librarians; returning professionals (those who took leave and decided to acclimate back into the profession); any library staff member interested in pursuing a career in librarianship.

The Committee offers emerging librarians of all ages and from all segments of the library community an environment for exchanging ideas and discussing workplace concerns and issues. Furthermore, the Committee enables members to seek out job search advice from their peers, enhance their skill sets for marketability through continuing education opportunities, and prepare for employment in a library setting.
